Been away for the weekend so I haven't had chance to write the report yet. All being well I'll get it online tomorrow and update the subtopic to reflect that. Of note, HSM3 crashed on Friday, down 91% from the previous Friday but managed to recover over the rest of the weekend (Halloween Trick & Treating might having something to do with that low Friday).

Rumours are rife that the Weinstein Company have inflated the Zack & Miri grosses by up to a $1M. If so, it'll be reflected tomorrow when the actuals are released. Changeling, which saw an expansion into 1800+ locations this weekend rockets into the top five. Horror film Molly Hartley might have scored a bit of Halloween trade but the majority went to Saw V. Hartley probably won't last more than another weekend in the top ten.

EDIT: Once the actuals where released it appears the Weinstein's where about $600k out with their estimates. That might not sound much but it left a nasty taste in the mouth of some studios (didn't make much difference really as the positions remained the same). HSM3 had an awful Friday as did Saw 5 (that 91% drop from week to week by HSM3 might be the highest ever) but both films managed to recover somewhat over the remaining weekend, especially HSM3.

Zack & Miri was pretty costly as far as Kevin Smith movies go, costing around $25M. It should see something approaching that amount in a couple of weeks and his film always clean up on DVD. The Changeling leapt into the top five after its expansion into a still relatively limited 1800 locations. (Compare that to the 3,600 of HSM3). The Angelina Jolie film review only 'ok' with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 56% but word of mouth from its limited release last weekend has got a few more people interested.

The Haunting of Molly Hartly appeared pretty much unannounced and was buoyed somewhat by Halloween cinema-goers. It won't hang around long (estimates for this weekend already having barely making a second weekend in the top ten) but it was produced cheaply and should turn a profit.
